JAMAICA

If you’ve never been to Jamaica, you are missing out! Not because it’s my country why I big it up, Jamaica is just simply NICE MON. From the beautiful lush land, full of trees like Mango (julie, east indian, sweetie..), Guava, Banana, Coconut, Sugarcane, Ackee (yes it’s a fruit), Otaheite apple (Jamaican Apple), Star Apple, Naseberry to healing herbs you can make teas with like Fevergrass, Soursop leaves, Guinea Weed, Medina, Guava leaves and Ground provision foods like, Yam, Casava, Irish Potato, Dashine, and Cocoa, has you eating well and healthy. The people are infectious, full of mad energy that no matter what they might be going through they’re always in great spirits, some of the people could be seen or heard singing loudly as if no one is around, maybe even breaking out into an impromptu Jamaican dance, which by the way they have crazy names for, like Breadfruit , Tom Cruise, Beetroot, Chicken and Bread and Yeng Yeng. One of my FAVE things to do in Jamaica is the beach, and boy do we have some of the most beautiful beaches. I love the beaches in Port Antonio located in the beautiful parish of Portland (Jamaica has 14 Parishes), Winifred is a local beach that I enjoy going to a lot, if ever you go to Winifred Beach, ask for a statuesque Rastaman name Cliff and he will take care of you. He and his sons makes the most beautiful Calabash bowls, cups and bags, which I’ve been collecting. There’s also the famous Blue Lagoon (yes the movie Blue Lagoon is really a Blue Lagoon), you can take one of the many fishing boats to get a tour of the lagoon as well as the seaside of Portland.

There’s so much more to see and do in Jamaica, I will have to do a couple more post on it promise! In the meantime, checkout the pictures and enjoy Port Antonio.
